I suppose I’m going to use my 300th post on this blog to complain about this—

—yet again. Argh.

Now, I have no idea how Google goes about picking the image for these little summaries or whatever you’d call them. But you’d think—you’d think—that if the Google Image preview looks like this…

…and Google Image Search proper looks like this…

…where all but two of the first twenty-four pictures actually feature Mr. Ashmanskas to some extent, Google might be able to manage to snag an image of the right person, even if it was grabbing it at random. I mean, I’d understand better if his name was something generic like John Smith, but it’s certainly not, and the results are full of pictures that are actually him.

For the icing on the cake of this little pet peeve, the source linked under that picture of Not Brooks Ashmanskas Victor Garber is this article. Which contains a lovely little collection of ten photos.

Nine of which feature Mr. Ashmanskas, seven feature him by himself, and one, just one, is Victor Garber alone.

So, by all means, Google… use that one.
